Screenshots

The camera button in the scene view header takes a clean picture of the scene view. The picture looks like the game: terrain, water, sky, prefabs and paths.

Take a screenshot

  1. Set up the view you want in the scene view.
  2. Click the camera button (Take a screenshot of the scene view) in the header. The Screenshot dialog opens.
  3. Pick a Resolution: Scene View (the size the scene view draws at now), 1280x720, 1920x1080 (the default), 2560x1440 or 3840x2160. RustEdit remembers your choice.
  4. Click Save. A Windows save window opens in the Images/Screenshots folder next to the app.
  5. Pick a folder and a file name, as a PNG or a JPG. RustEdit makes the picture and says where it saved it.

The picture leaves out the editor's drawings: gizmos, handles, placeholders, splines, map notes, IO wires, the selection outline, the brush and overlays such as the heat map.

With RustEdit Plus or higher RustEdit Plus, the Screenshot dialog also has Upload to Gallery. It uploads the picture to the Gallery instead of saving it. A gallery picture is always 1920 x 1080, whatever Resolution you pick. You must be signed in to RustHQ.

A quick screenshot with F12

F12 saves the scene view as it is, with the gizmos and the selection outline, as a 1920 x 1080 JPG in Images/Screenshots.
