Free, Plus and Pro

Most of RustEdit is free. Two paid tiers add more: RustEdit Plus and RustEdit Pro. You buy them as a subscription on RustHQ. Each tier has its own features and every feature of the tiers under it, so RustEdit Pro has everything in RustEdit Plus.

What each tier includes

Free

Everything that is not listed below, for example:

RustEdit Plus

Cliff BrushPlace cliff and rock sets along a line or over an area.
MultiplayerHost or join a session and edit one map together. The host and each person who joins need RustEdit Pro.
Terrain splinesThe Road Bed, Ridge / Canyon, Shape Area and Paint Area spline types.
Prefab splinesThe Prefab Line and Prefab Area spline types.
AI tools for the Terrain Graph and the Cliff BrushAI apps can use these two tools too.

Without RustEdit Pro, you cannot use ToolsMultiplayer or the Multiplayer panel.

How locked features look

RustEdit shows locked features, so you know they are there. It never hides them.

  • Tool bar buttons are grayed out. Click one, and Notifications says This feature requires RustEdit Plus or This feature requires RustEdit Pro.
  • Menu items, for example in InterfaceWindow and Tools, are disabled. A click shows the same message and closes the menu.
  • A locked panel that opens from a saved layout shows only the message, not its contents.
  • The play button and the gallery screenshot button in the scene view header are dimmed. Hover over them to see which tier they need.
  • Locked spline types are faded in the spline type list and cannot be picked.
  • Map passwords. Without RustEdit Plus, RustEdit does not ask for a password when you save. If the open scene has a password, RustEdit asks: Map passwords need RustEdit Plus. This scene will be saved without its password. Save anyway?
The tool buttons of the tool bar. Left: without a license, Terrain Graph and Cliff Brush are grayed out. Right: the same buttons with RustEdit Pro

When you unlock a tier, locked features unlock within a second. You do not have to restart.

  1. Buy RustEdit Plus or RustEdit Pro on the RustEdit subscribe page.
  2. In RustEdit, open FileRustHQ Account.
