Custom Entity
The Custom Entity panel sets the name and the fields of a custom entity: RustEdit's own object for server plugins, not a Rust prefab. It shows when you select a custom entity.
A server plugin finds every custom entity with a name through the RustEdit 2 server extension, with its place, rotation, scale and fields. Use it to mark places and settings for your own plugins, such as an event area with a radius, or a door with a code.
Add one from the Server Objects folder of the Content Browser, on a map or in a custom monument. In the scene view, it is a small blue box with its name over it. The Hierarchy shows its name too. Several custom entities can have the same name: the plugin gets all of them.
Click + under Fields to add a field. Give each field a name, a type and a value:
| Type | Value |
|---|---|
| Bool | On or off |
| Int | A whole number |
| Float | A number |
| String | A text |
| Vector3 | Three numbers: X, Y and Z |
| Color | A color |
The map must be exported with Entities set to In RustEdit data. A map exported with In the map has no custom entities. See Export Map.
Can edit several selected objects at once.
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Name# | Text | The name a server plugin finds it by. Several custom entities can have the same name |
| Fields# | List of Custom Entity Field | Values for the server plugin: each has a name, a type and a value Items can be added and removed. |
