Transform
The Transform panel shows where the selected objects are, how they are turned and how big they are. It shows for every selection, right under the name row. Type a value when you need an exact place, for example to line up two prefabs, or copy the values of one object and paste them onto another.
The panel has three rows: Position, Rotation and Scale, each with X, Y and Z. Values are in meters and degrees. With more than one object selected, the panel shows the average of the selected objects (children of selected objects are not counted), never a dash. A new value moves, turns or scales the whole selection:
- Position moves every selected object by the same amount, so they keep their places to each other.
- Rotation turns the whole selection around its middle.
- Scale scales the selection from its middle.
The space set on the transform gizmo changes how the fields work. In global space, the values are in world axes, as described above. In local space, the value you type in one axis is given to every selected object on that axis, measured from the object's parent (or from the world, when it has no parent). The other axes stay as they are. See Selection and transform.
A row is disabled when one of the selected objects cannot be moved, turned or scaled. For example, prefabs joined to others by sockets cannot be scaled, and a locked object in a socket group stops the whole group. Locked objects and parts of a linked monument do not move, even though the rows are not disabled for them.
Press Enter or click outside the box to apply a value. You can type math, for example 120+2.5. Each value you apply is one undo step.
In local space, the fields still show the world values, not the local ones. A value you type is still used in local space, as described above. To read the values, switch to global space.
Buttons in the menu
Click the gear button at the right end of the panel's title row for these items.
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Reset | Moves the selection to the world origin, sets its rotation to 0 and sets its scale to 1. |
| Copy > Position, Rotation, Scale | Copies one row of the selection's values. |
| Copy > Component Values | Copies all three rows. |
| Paste > Position, Rotation, Scale | Gives the selection the copied row. |
| Paste > Component Values | Gives the selection all three copied rows. |
A Paste item is disabled until you copy that row. Paste > Component Values needs all three rows copied. Any copied value can be pasted, also 0, 0, 0.
