Map Generation

The Map Generation panel tells Rust's map generator if, where and how often it may spawn the monument. It shows when you select the root of an open monument, under the Monument panel. The generator runs in the Procedural Generation panel.

Turn on Enabled first. The other fields show only while it is on. Spawn Folder picks the step of Rust's generator that places the monument, together with Rust's monuments in that folder. The other fields are Rust's own monument settings, saved with Rust's names and values: Monument Type, Tiers and Min Map Size decide where it may go, Priority and Count how soon and how often, and Rotation Min and Rotation Max how it turns.

For the generator, the monument's bounds are its whole square of terrain, 1000 meters high. The monument's attributes hold the rest: how it sits on the ground and what ground it needs. See Map generation settings.

Changes in this panel are not undo steps. They mark the monument as unsaved. RustEdit puts numbers out of range back in range: Min Map Size and Count cannot be below 0, and Rotation Max cannot be below Rotation Min.

note

In the Priority list, and in the table below, Low and High have descriptions about valleys and streams. Those descriptions belong to another setting. Low and High only rank the monument between Lowest, Default and Highest.

Enabled#Toggle

On: the map generator may spawn this monument. Its bounds are the monument's whole world

Spawn Folder#Dropdown

The folder of Rust's monuments it joins. The map generator's spawn step for that folder places it

The choices depend on the map or the selection.

It does not spawn on maps smaller than this, in metres. 0 for every size

How many times it is in its spawn step's list. More makes it more likely, and it can then spawn more than once. 0 leaves it out

Only shown in some cases
Rotation Min#X, Y, Z

The smallest random turn it gets, in degrees on each axis

Only shown in some cases
Rotation Max#X, Y, Z

The largest random turn it gets, in degrees on each axis
