NPC Vendor
The NPC Vendor panel sets the shopkeeper of an NPC vendor and what it sells. It shows when you select an NPC vendor: RustEdit's own object, not a Rust prefab. On the server, it makes a shopkeeper, like the ones at Rust's safe zones. Players buy from the shopkeeper by talking to it.
In Rust, a shopkeeper needs two parts on the same spot: the shopkeeper NPC, and an invisible vending machine that holds the orders. When the shopkeeper spawns, it takes the invisible vending machine within 1 meter of it as its shop. The NPC Vendor is both parts in one object, so they always stand on the same spot.
Place a vendor
Add one from the Server Objects folder of the Content Browser, on a map or in a custom monument.
- The scene view shows the shopkeeper in the clothing that Rust gives it. The shopkeeper looks the way the vendor faces, and waves at players in front of it.
- The name over it shows the vending profile it uses.
- If Rust's shopkeeper cannot be shown, the scene view shows a green shape the size of a person, with a line in the direction the shopkeeper faces.
- Click the shopkeeper to select the vendor. A box selection takes it too. You can move and turn it, but not scale it.
What it sells
Drag a vending profile onto Vending Profile from the Content Browser, folder Profiles > Vending Profiles, or click the field and pick one. With None, the shopkeeper sells the orders of the Vending Machine you picked: the orders that machine has at Rust's monuments.
The Shopkeeper and Vending Machine lists show only the prefabs that the Rust game on your computer has. Rust has three shopkeepers: bandit_shopkeeper, bandit_shopkeeper_sitting and waterwell_shopkeeper.
The boat, Airwolf, stables and apartment vendors are other kinds of NPC. They do not sell from a vending machine, so they are not in the list. The boat and Airwolf vendors sell vehicles: place them as a Vehicle Vendor.
Loadouts
Loadouts dresses the shopkeeper from loadout profiles: its clothing, weapons and items.
- With several, the server picks one at random each time it spawns.
- With loadouts, the scene view shows the shopkeeper wearing the first one.
- Without loadouts, the shopkeeper wears Rust's own clothing for it. Rust has two outfits for the bandit shopkeepers and picks one at random. The scene view shows the first.
Export
The vendor needs the RustEdit 2 server extension, and the map must be exported with Entities set to In RustEdit data. A map exported with In the map has no vendors. See Export Map.
The map carries a copy of the vending profile, as it does for vending machines.
Can edit several selected objects at once.
