Building Block

The Building Block panel shows when you select a Rust building block: a foundation, floor, wall, stairs or roof, placed with the Building tool or from the Content Browser. It has one field, Grade, and you can change it for several blocks at once.

The grade is the material the block is built from. When you change it, the block changes to that grade's model in the scene view, and the corner parts of its neighbors update. New blocks start as Twigs, unless the Building tool gave them another grade.

In the Building panel the same grades are called Sheet Metal (here Metal) and Armored (here Top Tier). Each grade uses its standard look: there is no skin choice.

The grade is saved with the block in the scene file and in the RustEdit data of the exported map. Building blocks also have the Base Combat Entity panel.

Can edit several selected objects at once.
