Prefab

The Prefab panel shows when the selection holds a Rust prefab. It has one field, Category, and you can edit it for several prefabs at once.

Rust's map file stores a category text with each prefab. Prefabs that you place get the category Decor. When you open a map, every prefab keeps the category it had in the file. Most prefabs do not need another category. A Monument Marker uses its category as its name on the in-game map. Type the name you want players to see, for example My awesome marker. Rust reads the category itself, so this works without the RustEdit 2 server extension.

When the selected prefabs have different categories, the field shows a dash. Type a category to give it to all of them. If you click into the field and away without typing, the categories do not change. A change is not an undo step. The category is saved in the scene file and in the exported map. Replace Prefab can keep it when it swaps prefabs.
