Spawn Instances

The Spawn Instances panel counts the Rust spawners in the selected prefabs and shows a new random pick of what they spawn. It shows when every selected prefab has spawners of its own. It is not a component on the prefab.

Some Rust prefabs do not hold all of their contents. Their spawners pick prefabs and put them at spawn points while the server runs. A desert military base gets its tents this way, an underwater lab and a tunnel get their rooms, a road sign spawner gets its sign, and many monuments get their crates, barrels and NPCs.

RustEdit shows what the spawners can spawn, so a place looks as it does in the game:

  • Scenery shows by itself when the prefab is placed, opened with a map or copied: dwellings (desert military bases, underwater labs, tunnels), road signs, and door and train barricades.
  • Loot, NPCs and vehicles show when you select the prefab.
note

What the spawners show is only a picture. It is not saved, not exported and not listed in the Hierarchy. Clicking it selects the prefab that holds the spawner. The game picks its own when the server runs.
