Wire Prefab
Rust's wire prefab is a cable model, for example to hang between two poles. It only looks like a wire: it carries no power and is not an IO wire. For wires that carry power, see IO wiring.
The Wire Prefab panel shows when you select one wire prefab. It has two buttons, Edit Start Point and Edit End Point. With them, you put each end of the cable on an object in the scene. RustEdit then moves, turns and stretches the prefab so the cable runs between its two ends.
How to set the ends
- Select the wire prefab.
- In the Wire Prefab panel, click Edit Start Point or Edit End Point.
- Move the mouse over the scene view. That end of the cable follows the mouse over the objects in the scene, such as prefabs. The other end stays where it is.
- Click Mouse Left to finish.
Each edit is one undo step: Ctrl+Z puts the cable back where it was.
note
The end only follows the mouse over objects. Over the bare terrain or the sky it stays where it was.
